Poorly formatted equations in research publications and lacking information about the units to be used has caused me a lot of confusion and an avoidable loss of time. Also, I was more than once insecure how to eventually use an equation for my own research. When delving deeper and trying to achieve an in-depth understanding of a topic, things get even more complicated if the derivation of equations commonly used is not comprehensible or the corresponding literature hard to find because of incorrect referencing.
